It has highlighted the great importance of the Spanish language and culture internationally, being a language spoken in 23 countries, with a total of 600 million speakers around the world, and is studied by approximately 21 million students, so it has become a sector of great importance.

The VIII CILE gathered more than 200 experts and professionals to discuss and share their professional experiences under the slogan ‘America and the future of Spanish. Culture and education, technology and entrepreneurship ‘.

Mari Carmen Timor, as president of FEDELE, had the honor of participating in this event and, in addition, on March 29 she participated in the fifth section on the language industry, as well as, of language and cultural tourism. In this space, Mari Carmen Timor explained what FEDELE is and the vision it projects abroad as a point of reference to study Spanish with quality assurance. She also explained that Spain is a unique destination that offers the student a quality linguistic immersion in the teaching of Spanish and the academic services offered in the FEDELE centers. She also referred to the work done along with public and private institutions, both national and international, to support the internationalization of language services. She ended her speech expressing the need for greater coordination and structure in the promotion of the language, as well as with marketing channels and language communication as a tourist product.

The participation of FEDELE in this great event helps to spread the image of our organization throughout the world.

One of the most outstanding tributes was to Joaquín Sabina for his poetry. In addition, tributes were made to Víctor García de la Concha, former director of the Royal Spanish Academy and the Instituto Cervantes, and to the composer Manuel de Falla.

The ‘Festival of the word’ was closed with the homage to Atahualpa and the performance of the singer Soledad Pastorutti. King Felipe VI also intervened in this event to talk about Argentina, the different characteristics that make it a special city and worthy to be chosen to celebrate this VIII Congress.
