Now that the holidays are almost over and the new academic year is about to begin, ASELE<\/strong>\u00a0(Association for the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language) is organising the 27th International Congress, from the 7th to the 10th September, in the city of\u00a0 Logro\u00f1o<\/strong> under the auspices of the University of La Rioja.<\/p>\n

The main theme of this year’s congress is the concept of\u00a0 Panhispanism<\/strong> and the role of different ways of Teaching Spanish as a Foreign or as a Second Language.<\/p>\n

The specific themes<\/strong> for this year’s conference are as follows:<\/p>\n

1. The sociolinguistic perspective of the Teaching of Spanish as a L2-FL:
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0In a school context (private and public education): children, adolescents and adults
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0For professional activities (sociological and technical jargon)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Non-literate learners, immigrants and refugees<\/p>\n

2. The geographical, regulatory and geopragmatic perspective of the learning and teaching of L2-FL in relation to:
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Polycentrism and systematic dialect varieties in Spanish
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Pluricentrism and its didactic methodology
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Phonetic, morphosyntactic and lexical variations of the Spanish language
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Sociolinguistic, discursive and cultural diversity of Spanish speaking countries
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0The expression of emotions, feelings and forms of social interactions of Spanish speakers
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0The language of gestures in Spanish societies<\/p>\n

3. Perspective of language policy in Spanish speaking countries on:
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0The current position of Spanish as a L2-FL
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0National actions and collaboration on language policy for Teaching Spanish as a L2-FL
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Panhispanic dimension and global Spanish in the Learning and Teaching of Spanish as a L2-FL
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Spanish L2-FL curricula in Spanish speaking countries
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0The Teaching of Spanish as L1, L2 and FL in multilingual contexts (USA, Brazil, Spanish speaking countries with Amerindian languages, Spain)<\/p>\n
