There she had the honor of meeting with some newly incorporated employers such as Roberto Fernández (president of the CRUE –Conference of Rectors– and rector of the University of Lleida) with whom she had a long conversation about the role of international language centers under the sponsorship of universities and federated centers. They have opened a communication channel and expect to have meetings in the coming months.
She was also able to meet the new General Secretary of Instituto Cervantes, Carmen Noguero, who replaces Rafael Rodríguez Ponga. The feeling has been positive, and she is very interested in knowing first-hand the operation of FEDELE.
The director, Luis García Montero, gave his touch of passion to the meeting with his exciting dialectic and announced several notable projects: the beginning of efforts to open a center in Los Angeles (United States), the creation of a «Cervantes certificate» that accredits the quality of the teaching staff of Spanish as a foreign language, and the constitution of an organization that integrates all the Ibero-American institutes dedicated to the culture and teaching of Spanish.
Washington, federal capital of the US, will also be a place where the Institute manages to settle in the medium term in addition to a greater presence in the African continent and the reopening in Gibraltar.
He also announced the foundation of an Ibero-American Circle of Friends of the Instituto Cervantes, which will bring together people, companies and institutions willing to cooperate in cultural projects that will be developed in Europe and America.
Another novelty is the opening at the Cervantes headquarters in Madrid of a Language Museum that ‘spreads love for the language’ to tourists, students, citizens, etc. Visitors will be able to read and listen to great poets through their work, and to anonymous citizens of any country talking about diverse issues in the common language that almost 600 million people speak.
Among the issues addressed, the balance in figures of the last academic year: presence in 87 cities in 44 countries, almost 140,000 Spanish enrollments (some, co-official languages), 109,000 candidates for the DELE Spanish diploma, 8,000 enrolled for the new SIELE diploma, 67,000 candidates for the constitutional knowledge test (CCSE) to obtain nationality, 4,700 cultural events and 1,200,000 followers on social networks.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
